Just Do It - Compounded

The Magic of compounding works for consistency in action.

Creating habits is something we talk about regularly when we think about personal growth.
Exercising, reading, eating more fruit & vegetables etc. are examples of some of those habits. Think about each one of these, what happens when you do each of these daily and it becomes a daily habit.

  • If you exercise daily, do the results of the exercise begin to compound over time?

  • How about reading? If you read daily, will you begin to acquire insight & knowledge compounded because of your regular reading?

  • We know that eating healthy gets results, if we make it a daily habit, can we expect compounded results?

In business, we need to make prospecting calls. What is typically the method that is used? We want to have massive action so, we decided to bang out 100 calls today, when we’ve only been doing 5 or 6 per week. So, we jumped up and made all 100 calls today. How are we going to feel after that? Very accomplished, but more than likely we experienced a lot of rejection, and we might be feeling discouraged. When will we make some more calls? That time will not come soon.

Here is an idea. Let's create a daily habit of doing that activity that we don't necessarily like to do but need to do every day.

  1. How about we take the activity of making calls and start with a plan to create a daily habit of making calls.

  2. Let’s start the plan by making 5 every day. When you make 5 the first day, are we still fresh when we get done? Sure, and we want to do something else, and we also can easily prepare to make 5 more tomorrow.

  3. Are we getting better every day because we are making those calls each and every day? Of course! The exciting thing is that we are stacking 5 per day and on the 5th day we are 5 days better after making 25 calls, on the 10th we are 10 days better after making 50 calls.

The results begin to compound just as performance improvement is compounding.
