🏀March Madness: Crafting Timeless Memories

I love college basketball.  It's a passion that has grown for more than five decades. To me, there's something uniquely thrilling about attending live college basketball games, a sentiment that extends to high school sporting events as well, whether it be football, basketball, baseball, or any other sport. While I've yet to experience soccer, volleyball, or other high school sports firsthand, I'm confident the exhilaration they bring is equally captivating.

“We love to make memories and sports has been a great avenue for creating those timeless memories.”

The NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament at the end of each year is at the top of the list for memory making sporting events.

My favorite part of the college basketball season is March Madness, a tournament enriched by history and unforgettable moments. The term "March Madness" itself traces its roots back to 1939, coined by Illinois high school official, Henry V. Porter. It wasn't until 1982, however, that the term captivated a nation-wide audience, thanks to CBS broadcaster Brent Musburger during the NCAA tournament coverage. Since then, "March Madness" has become an inseparable part of the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament.

Among the myriad of electrifying moments, the 1992 NCAA Tournament stands out—Duke (#1 Seed) versus Kentucky (#2 Seed) in the East Region finals. With just 2.1 seconds left in overtime and Kentucky up by one, Grant Hill's legendary three-quarters court pass to Christian Laettner, who then executed a flawless turn and jumper as time expired, clinched a 104–103 victory. That moment, watched in a friend's living room, was a collective explosion of emotion.

The biggest loss coming in 2020, when the tournament was canceled due to the pandemic—a year of mourning for fans.

Yet, it has also showcased triumphant turnarounds, like Baylor's victory to win the championship over an undefeated Gonzaga in 2021 under coach Scott Drew, marking one of the most remarkable program rejuvenations, especially after overcoming the shadows of a scandal prior to his coming.

As we edge closer to the 2024 tournament, with the bracket reveal just around the corner on a Sunday evening, anticipation builds anew. These moments—past, present, and future—create a tapestry of memories that fill our hearts with happiness and anticipation.

Expect to Win!
